Under Myanmar law at present in force, trademarks/service marks are registered by means of Declaration of Ownership at the Register of Deeds and Assurances, followed by publication of Trademark Cautionary Notices;
Multi-class application is accepted in Myanmar; a separate Declaration is needed for each trademark & service mark.
Time Frame: It usually 04 - 06 weeks from the filing to granting date to complete the registration of Declaration of Ownership;
Renewal of trademark registration and re-publication is optional (Law does not prescribe it) and usually done in every 03 years.
REQUIRED INFORMATION:
Full name, address and nationality of the applicant;
Specification of goods and/or services;
If priority is claimed: earlier trademark application number and filing date, country where such earlier application was filed.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
Power of Attorney from applicant (our form attached);
Declaration of Ownership of Trademark (our form attached);
Three (03) specimens of the mark (size within 8cm x 8cm);
Certified copy of priority document (if any);
Notes:
Both of documents (1) and (2) are required to be certified by Notarized Public and then legalized by Myanmar Consulate in the country of applicant.
