The Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia has officially announced the implementation of a digital trademark registration system, which took effect on 30 September 2025. This significant move marks the transition to a fully paperless trademark process, streamlining procedures and improving efficiency for both trademark owners and legal representatives.
Under this new framework:
• All procedures related to trademark registration are now conducted entirely online.
• Legal representatives can submit applications and receive official communications, including registration certificates, in digital form only.
• The initiative is part of the Cambodian government’s broader strategy to modernize public services, reduce administrative burdens, and align with international best practices in intellectual property management.

Although most documents will be managed electronically, certain originating documents still need to be submitted in their original notarized form:
• Powers of Attorney (POA): notarized originals required.
• Assignments / Recordals: original notarized deeds and related supporting documents required.
• Declarations for changes (e.g., name or address): original notarized declarations or other valid legal evidence required.
This transition to a digital trademark system in Cambodia will:
• Improve efficiency and reduce processing times.
• Provide faster access to official documents and certificates.
• Minimize paperwork and administrative delays for both businesses and IP professionals.
